Another article on Goffman: When Goffman was a boy

Sherri Cavan, a former student of Erving Goffman, has just published an article in Symbolic Interaction that situates and relates back Goffman’s development of concepts like stigma and impression management to his biographical circumstances and his social position as an outsider. Sherri’s article “When Goffman was a boy: The Formation Years of a Sociological Giant” now is on Early View.
