On Early View Andreas Bischoff’s review of Winking & Leeds-Hurwitz’s book on Goffman

As the reception of our Special Issue on ‘Erving Goffman’ edited by Dmitri Shalin demonstrated there is an enormous interest in Goffman’s work and a need to (re-)examine his analyses  also in light of his biography. This interest in Goffman’s work also is reflected in books on Goffman that have recently been published. One of these books is “Erving Goffman: A Critical Introduction to Media and Communication Theory” by Yves Winkin and Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz (2013).

Andreas Bischoff’s review of the book that has just been published on Early View of our journal highlights that Winkin and Leeds-Hurwitz make great strides in showing the relevance of Goffman today as they elaborating how his analyses and conceptual distinctions are being drawn on, referred to and used in communication and media studies.
