Review of Elizabeth Hordge-Freeman’s book “The Color of Love” #sssi #sociology

In his review, Chris Conner describes Elizabeth Hordge-Freeman’s book “The Color of Love” as  “an excellent ethnographic project examining how race is constituted and affects the everyday lives of Afro-Brazilian family members.” By making an important contribution to our understanding of the constitution and reification of race Hordge-Freeman’s book is an excellent example of an ethnography that is highly relevant to contemporary debates in sociology as well as as in public discourse.

At the forthcoming SSSI 2017 Annual Meetings in Montreal Elizabeth Hordge-Freeman will participate in an Author meets Critics session.
