New Book Review on Early View – Christopher T. Conner on J. Sumerau’s social fiction ‘Cigarettes & Wine’ #sssi #sociology

We have just published Christopher T. Conner’s review of J. Sumerau’s ‘Cigarettes & Wine’. J. who also is the editor of the SSSI music Blog has published ‘Cigarettes & Wine’ as a piece of social fiction that “blurs the lines between ethnography, autoethnographyand fiction, creating a new way of presenting ethnographic accounts.” (Conner 2017, p.1). Christopher T. Conner who has written numerous excellent book reviews for our journal, recommends Sumerau’s book as “an interesting pedagogical tool for an introductory course in sociology, or perhaps a topical course on gender and sexuality. It is a text that is accessible, entertaining, evocative, and can serve to unpack larger sociological concepts in class discussions.
