New Article: Danielle Pillet-Shore “Make the Sensorial Social” #sssi #senses #sociology

After the publication of Lorenza Mondada’s article “Orchestrating Multi‐sensoriality in Tasting Sessions: Sensing Bodies, Normativity, and Language” published in January, we now have published a second article that will be included in a Special Issue on ‘The Senses in Social Interaction” edited by Will Gibson and Dirk vom Lehn. Danielle Pillet-Shore’s article “When to Make the Sensory Social: Registering in Face‐to‐Face Openings” examines naturally occurring video‐recorded openings during which participants make the sensory social through the action of registering—calling joint attention to a selected, publicly perceivable referent so others shift their sensory attention to it.

The article comes with a wonderful video-abstract.
