We have published Lee Robert Blackstone’s review of Robert Owen Gardner’ book “The Portable Community: Place and Displacement in Bluegrass Festival Life by Robert Owen Gardner” recently.

In this book Gardner offers the concept of “portable community” and builds on Goffman’s notion of “public backstage” to describes how the bluegrass fans perform and enact a sense of self in the annual festival space.
