Review of Anne Warfield Rawls’ book “Harold Garfinkel: Parsons’ Primer” by Nozomi Ikeya #SSSI #Sociologylens https://doi.org/10.1002/symb.571

We have published Nozomi Ikeya’s review of Anne Warfield Rawls’ book “Harold Garfinkel: Parsons’ Primer.” This edited collection comprises of papers elaborating Parsons’ works and their conversations with ethnomethodology. It also includes Parsons’ correspondences with Garfinkel and his colleagues, as well as correspondences between Garfinkel and his students.

Garfinkel for instance “describes Parsons’ work in great detail, going on to say that “one of many available solutions to the problem of social order, is an exceptional solution in its originality, rigor, scope, and usefulness. But because Parsons is so difficult to read his work has been used less and criticized more than it deserves” (p. 111).”
