New Article: “The Silicone Self: Examining Sexual Selfhood and Stigma within the Love and Sex Doll Community” by Kenneth R. Hanson #SSSI #Sociology @Sociologylens https://doi.org/10.1002/symb.575

In this article, Hanson seeks to understand how love and sex doll owners account for their transgressive sex practice in fluid ways that depend on the context in which they are discussing their practice.

Hanson argues that these accounts “reveal the underlying sexual selfhood project of doll owners”, what he calls the “silicone self”. The silicon self is a term that helps to show “how the doll community members manage stigma by emphasizing sexual individualism and drawing on pro-sex, feminist, and anti-feminist discourses.”
